Gophers Too Much for Ferrum in Field Hockey

FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College dropped a non-conference field hockey game to visiting Goucher College, falling 8-0 this afternoon at W.B. Adams Stadium.

Ferrum (0-3)

Mia Wiggins scored first at the 8:30 mark en route to Goucher opening a 4-0 halftime lead. Wiggins closed the game with two goals and three assists.

Ari Hooper added two goals and two assists for the Gophers, while Danielle Johnson added two goals and an assist.

Mia Holmes played all 60 minutes in net for the Panthers (0-3), making 16 saves. Devin Brashear played 45 minutes in net for Goucher with no stops.

Coach Carrie Austin's team will back in action next weekend with of non-conference road games Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14-15. The Panthers play Wilson College Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Austin's squad will then play at St. Mary's College Sunday at 100 p.m. in St. Mary's City, Maryland.
