FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College dropped its men's soccer season opener to Piedmont International University, a non-conference foe, falling 1-0 tonight at Penn-Roediger Field.
Piedmont International (1-0)
Marco Diaz's unassisted goal in the 20th minute proved to be the difference in the season opener for both teams. Cole Lipinski played 90 minutes in net for the Panthers with one save. Jerimiah Gibbs did the same for the Bruins with two stops.
BEHIND THE WHISTLE
"Tonight we played really well in the first half and probably should have scored early. To concede against the run of play was unfortunate but our young squad will bounce back." -- Head Coach Enda Crehan
Coach Crehan's team will be back in action for their first road test of the season, taking on Marymount (Va.) at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, September 1st.
