Panther Women Not Enough On Road

EMORY, Virginia -- The Ferrum College women's basketball team dropped an Old Dominion Athletic Conference affair with Emory & Henry College, 92-44 on the road inside the King Center Wednesday night.

Ferrum (0-7, 0-3 ODAC)

It was all Wasps from the start in this one as they used a 10-2 run to close out the first quarter and never looked back. Kara Stafford led the way for Emory & Henry with eight points to go along with a rebound and an assists. Kylea Cooper was close behind, adding six points to the cause. For the Panthers, Arin Bunker, Jacy Marvin and Kayla Cabiness all had three points in the first stanza.

The second quarter was played to the advantage of the Wasps as well. Sydney McKinney had a big quarter with 11 points with two rebounds, and Alexis Hoppers added five points with three rebounds. Cabiness led the way for Ferrum, scoring three points to go along with an assist. Cameron Hawkins recorded two points and two rebounds, and Briona Hurt scored two points with three rebounds. The Panthers would head into the break trailing 38-24.

The Wasps would extend their lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Panthers 30-18. Peyton Williams came alive in the quarter, scoring ten points and chasing down six rebounds. Stafford added 11 points and three rebounds for Emory & Henry. Marvin had a strong quarter for the Panthers, scoring six points and adding two rebounds. Cabiness added five points of her own in the quarter to go along with an assist.

In the fourth quarter, Hoppers recorded eight points and five rebounds for the Wasps. Claudia Frost added five points of her own in the closing stanza as well. For Ferrum, Jessy Nichols knocked down two free throws to serve as the only Panther points in the quarter.

Coach Bryan Harvey's team will be back in action on the road Saturday, December 7, to take on non-conference opponent Maryville College. Game time is set for 2 p.m. in Maryville, Tennessee.
