Generals Too Much For Ferrum in Women's Soccer

FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College dropped an Old Dominion Athletic Conference soccer match up to Washington and Lee University under the lights, falling 3-1 at Penn-Roediger Field Wednesday night.

THE BASICS
Washington and Lee would strike first in this one, breaking the 0-0 tie with an Emily Leding goal from a Lindsay White delivery in the 21st minute. The Generals would quickly add to their lead in the 25th minute when Sophia Roche received a Grace Wielechowski pass and found the back of the net. Washington and Lee would then round out the first stanza with a Laney Smith goal, with Kelsey Anderson getting credit for an assist.

Ferrum would come out after the break firing on all cylinders, as Alex Mattson would record the only goal in the final 45 minutes. Her goal came in the 63rd minute when Jenna Janicki found her right outside the 18-yard box, and she finished it with a beautiful left-footed strike.

Grace Coombs would end up getting credit for the win for the Generals, recording two saves. Taylor Dodson would end up with the loss as the Panther netminder, notching nine saves.
