FERRUM, Virginia -- Eastern Mennonite University beat Ferrum College 3-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference volleyball action tonight at Swartz Gym. Set scores were 25-15, 25-17, 25-23.

The Royals jumped out to 16-8 lead before cruising to the win in set one, closing it out with Hannah Johnson's kill off an Abbi Hawkins set. Kara Durren's kill off a Hawkins set did the same in the second set.
In the third set, Ferrum rallied from down 20-16 to tie the match at 21-21. The Royals used a 4-2 edge down the stretch, with Johnson closing out the match with a kill off Tori Wigley's set.
Johnson had 14 kills and 18 digs to lead Eastern Mennonite. Wigley had 16 assists and Hawkins had 12 assists. Arielle Tritt had 11 assists and eight digs for Ferrum.
Coach Ruthanne Duffy's team will be back in action Thursday, October 17, at Christendom College. The non-conference match gets underway at 6:30 p.m. in Front Royal, Virginia.
